Generation Beauty Con Toronto took place in May. It was my first time there. I didn’t know what to expect.
I did expect brands to be there and free stuff. I thought the free stuff was one huge swag bag that we all left with.
I had no idea that this convention required us to line up throughout the con to get sample-sized and full-sized products at each brand’s booth.
It was tiring and did consist of a lot of standing. I highly recommend getting in line a few hours before the convention opens.
My friend and I did that and we were one of the first people to enter the convention.
As soon as we entered the convention area, we saw a huge sign in front of the escalators.
They gave us these attendee badges.
The convention took place in one large room.
They had the cutest pillows in the center of the room.
Our first stop was Tarte’s booth. We had to take a Snapchat and Instagram photo to get a Tarte mascara.
They wanted a close up of my face for their Snapchat, haha.
Next, I went to Benefit Cosmetics’ booth.
Then I made my way to pur-lisse and they gave sample-sized eye creams.
I went to Smashbox and it was around the time Chrisspy from YouTube had her meetup.
At the booth, makeup artists were doing attendee makeup.
Next, we went to pur cosmetics. They gave us eyeliner pencils. The black eyeliners were gone by the time I arrived. I got a purple eyeliner instead.
Absolute New York had a really cool booth.
In order to get lip gloss, we had to spin the wheel! Oh, and if you stopped on “win all the lip glosses” then you got the entire collection! The girl in front of me won all of them!
I’ve been using Organix for years. I was hoping to take a bottle home, but they gave samples only.
Too Faced was awesome!
I never tried their products before, but they were giving full-sized, skin-matched, quality concealers.
I still use this concealer and it is the best I’ve ever had.
In order to enter their contest to win a Too Faced mascara we had to take a photo.
Here the attendees are waiting in line to the coconut tree.
That over there is the coconut tree.
When we got there, I won their “Better than Sex” mascara and I love it.
Next, we went to NYX’s booth.
They were giving away free chocolate. I don’t eat chocolate. My friend ate the chocolate and said it tasted bad. At the NYX booth we got a cool lip palette.
This is the face of my friend meeting a famous beauty YouTuber.
We met Cydnee Black. She was so sweet and her blue eyes are stunning!
Our last stop was the Ipsy booth where we created our own makeup bag
There were massive stamp design machines!
I definitely wanted to win one. I tried, but alas, I did not win.
Overall, Generation Beauty Con was a tad disappointing and involved a lot of hard work.
I expected this to be more than an exhibition since it had “convention” in its name.
It should have been called Generation Beauty Exhibition. But, I guess that doesn’t sound so good.
Do not expect panels OR workshops.
