I believe in Jesus. I believe that when you discover God and believe in him, you should commit your life to him and leave your old life behind.
Some people call this an awakening. Christians celebrate this awakening with a baptism. It is the idea that you are reborn again.
I got baptized when I was 6 years old, which is quite young. A lot of the adults were confused and said I didn’t know better.
They may have been right and I may get re-baptized. I believe that I understood who Jesus was at a very young age.
A few years ago, I took photos of my cousins’ baptism. My church baptizes people in a real lake instead of a pool inside a church.
Once you get baptized, it’s easy to forget this “magical” experience took place.
When you attend a baptism it feels like you are being purified, even if you’re not the one being baptized.
When you get baptized you feel very happy!
There is excitement all around. You know that you are taking the right step in your path.
This happiness, also known as the Holy Spirit fills you up with a white glow of joy and for a moment you return to how God originally designed us before sin entered the world.
And now it’s prayer time.
It’s time to talk to God before the baptism occurs. This moment is very emotional.
The birds know too. I remember a huge amount of birds flying in circles around our exact area. It was beautiful.
My mom is waiting with white fabric to wrap my cousins after they are baptized.
Prayer is stronger together.
My grandma is the pastor and uncle is the father of my cousins. They will dip them into the water just as John the Baptist did with Jesus.
Right before you get baptized, you realize how serious this moment is. It is life-changing and similar to marriage.
You can date Jesus, but once you make that commitment to him, He will never turn an eye away from you.
You will always know right from wrong.
You will start hearing from Jesus more clearly. You will feel a pull in your heart when you’re doing something wrong.
Your gifts become evident and your purpose in life is displayed.
Baptism doesn’t make you perfect.
It reveals your flaws and your need to depend on Jesus.
It’s so easy to forget this moment when you’re in a world that has no interest in God.
When you get into the presence of God, your spirit understands everything.
Your joy returns to child-like joy!
Baptism reveals the raw version of yourself.
And then there is prayer.
Prayer.
Footprints.
And we return home. Back to the world, but with a purpose.
